Your equating result
UNEB reviews your application and tells you the Ugandan level your foreign qualification is equal to, usually as an official equating letter or certificate. This is the document schools and universities in Uganda ask for.
- Check every detail: your name, index number, school and qualification. Report any mistake to UNEB straight away.
- You can follow your application and see your UNEB reference in your account.
Apply for admission
Contact the admissions office of the university or college you chose. Each institution sets its own intake dates and entry requirements, so check them early.
Most admissions offices ask for:
- Your UNEB equating letter or certificate
- Your original certificates or result slips, plus copies
- Your passport or national ID and passport photos
- An English translation if your documents are in another language
Foreign students: student pass
If you are not a Ugandan citizen, you need a student pass to study in Uganda. It is issued by the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control (DCIC), and you usually need your admission letter to apply.
- Apply only through official government channels, and check current requirements and fees on the official DCIC website.
- Your university's international or admissions office can tell you exactly what to submit.
Keep your documents safe
- Keep originals at home in a safe, dry place. Hand over copies unless an office must see the original.
- Keep clear scans on your phone or email. The documents you uploaded here stay encrypted in your account.
- Never leave your passport or certificates with anyone who promises "quick" results.
Avoid scams
- Nobody can buy you a better equating result. UNEB decides based on your documents.
- Pay UNEB's own fees only when UNEB asks, through UNEB's official channels.
- Check that a university or college is accredited with the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) before you pay any fees.
- We will never ask for your mobile money PIN or your bank card details.
